Meghan Markle was just bashed for being “unmaternal” and “phony” on social media!
American author Emily Giffin took the Duchess of Sussex to task on Instagram after Markle posted a video of herself reading to son Archie. We are *shocked* that anyone would think this is a good idea.
The “Something Borrowed” author is now facing backlash (rightfully) after she called Meghan out on the platform.
In case you missed it: the philanthropist shared of herself reading “Duck! Rabbit!” aloud to her son with Prince Harry on his first birthday. The video was posted to the Save The Children UK Instagram page to raise funds for children affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
Yes, you read that correctly. The post was literally to raise money for charity, but Giffin seemed to miss the point. The novelist took aim at Meghan’s decision to put herself in the birthday tribute, rather than just shooting her son. WTF?!
Giffin slammed the 38-year-old in a tirade on the platform. “Happy Birthday, Archie. Go Away, Megan [sic],” she posted over a screen grab of Meghan’s sweet vid. She also commented on an Instagram account dedicated to the Sussexes, writing: “Holy ‘me first.’”

We’re not even sure what she means. A 1-year-old can’t read to himself, and it’s clear from the Instagram page that the theme of the series is adult celebrities reading children’s books. The Duchess of Sussex did exactly what was expected of her for the fundraiser. To critique her for calling attention to herself in a charity post is insane.
Unsurprisingly, the author has since back-tracked and is now apologizing for her tirade. "To be clear, I absolutely loved that a biracial, American woman was marrying into the Royal Family,” Giffin has said since.

“It seemed a wonderful, happy thing for everyone. I celebrated their wedding by hosting a gathering here at my home and posting many, many photos. Further, I was appalled by any signs of racism against her.”
aybe she'll think before she posts next time!
