Meghan Markle has returned to Instagram!
The 43-year-old former Suits actress shut down her Instagram account in January 2018, a few months before marrying Prince Harry. But she confirmed that she has returned to the social media platform under the new name @meghan by posting a short video of herself at the beach on New Year’s Day.
Dressed in an all-white-ensemble consisting of white cropped trousers and an oversized white shirt, the American Riviera Orchard founder can be seen running towards the sand and writing ‘2025’ in it, before running back.

Meghan Markle Returns To Instagram With New Handle
At the time of writing, the account @meghan has 1.4M followers. But we don’t think all of those followers are her biggest fans and supporters, as so many people took to other accounts to criticize her.
Many people thought that returning to Instagram was very hypocritical, considering the fact that both she and Prince Harry have regularly asked for privacy over the years.
And others couldn’t help but slam the mom-of-two for once again using her Duchess of Sussex title in her name (her Instagram name reads ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,’ FYI) considering all the negative things she and Prince Harry have said about the royal family since stepping down as senior royals.
Internet Reactions
"Why does she still call herself Duchess? Didn't she hate royalty life?" asked one person on an E! News Instagram video. "Because she is nothing without the royal title," replied a second Instagram user.
A third responded: "She hates the royal family but she doesn't hate the profit she can make only with the royal title. Without the connection to the royal family she is nobody, one of the many D list actresses." "Drop the title! You're not a royal!" demanded a fourth IG user. "So interesting that she doesn't want to be royal, but won't drop that royal title," observed a fifth.
"Another hypocritical move," slammed another, adding: "She and Harry literally spent the last 5 years denouncing social media and saying they never look at it." "Oh this is the private life she was craving," quipped another, as someone else echoed: "How's that private life working for you?"
Someone else noted: "Says that social media is bad for her mental health and has started a censorship campaign against it: rejoins social media. You just can't make this up." "Private life saga continues," added another, followed by the crying laughing emoji. "I want a low key life, look at me, look at me! It's me," someone else commented, followed by the eye rolling and facepalm emojis.
