New mom Meghan McCain seems to be having a hard time getting back into the swing of things at work after taking her maternity leave–but who can blame her! According to a source, McCain is “tired and stressed,” which has become evident by her time on The View where she has had a rough several days since being back. Honestly, we get it.
On January 6, McCain lost her composure on The View when co-host Whoopi Goldberg appeared to interrupt her from asking a question. McCain attempted to speak to the guest, Reverend Raphael Warnock, who had just beaten Kelly Loeffler in the Georgia runoff, saying, “Senator, I understand, I am just asking you a direct question,” before Goldberg cut in, “Actually, I am going to end this,” and pivoting to a commercial break.
After the break, McCain was visibly rattled, and when Goldberg asked her opinion on how “Georgia will impact the future of American politics,” McCain fizzled out. She began to answer the question, giving context to the Georgia runoff before falling into a tangent on Kelly Loeffler and finally saying, “I am so sorry my train of thought is so off right now. I apologize. Can you just move on to someone else? I am so sorry.”
This is not the first misstep McCain has made since her return to The View just a few days ago. The new mother recently interrupted comedian Joy Behar, who responded poorly to the moment, announcing, “I was speaking! I am talking.” McCain then responded, “You missed me so much when I was on maternity leave. You miss me so much. You missed fighting with me.” Tensions seem to be running high!
While it’s been a rocky first few days back at work, it’s understandable that getting back into the swing of things after coming off of maternity leave takes time with a young child at home. McCain has been a co-host on The View since 2017, so we’re sure she’ll get her feet back under her soon.
