Meghan Trainor consistently earns admiration from her fans for her honesty regarding her weight loss and cosmetic treatments. The Grammy winner, 30, has now shared how she transformed her physique through exercise, mentioning that she felt motivated to lift weights upon realizing, “I can be stronger.“
Trainor appeared on Today last week, and co-host Hoda Kotb asked the “Lips Are Movin” singer: “Can I also say that you’re in great shape?” Fellow broadcaster Jenna Bush Hager concurred, saying: “You look gorg!” Trainor then replied: “Oh my God, have you seen me in the gym?” Kotb, 60, added: “First of all, we love you inside and out throughout all, but this is like a new phase for you. Is this something where you intentionally said, ‘You know what, I want to get healthy?'”
Meghan Trainor Opens Up About Her Fitness Journey And Transformation On Today
Trainor shares two children with her husband, actor Daryl Sabara: son Riley, whom they welcomed in 2021, and son Barry, in 2023. On Today, she noted that her children inspired her to become more active. "I mean, look at those kids. I’ve got to lift them up and chase them. I’m exhausted," she said. The "All About That Bass" hitmaker continued: "They come and visit me every single workout. They come at the end."
The "Made You Look" artist also sat down with People this year, saying that she aimed to get in shape before heading out for The Timeless Tour, which concluded in October. "I want to train and eat clean, and feel good when I’m dancing and singing," she shared. "I don’t wanna be so winded, because right now, I’m winded," Trainor went on.
What Meghan Trainor Learned About 'Trying To Run On The Treadmill'
Trainor said that she doesn't exercise daily and also mentioned a cardio error that once caused her to swell up, but she has since learned from the experience. "I try to go three times a week of lifting weights. I didn’t know lifting weights would change my life so much. I was, like, dying, trying to run on the treadmill, and it made me swollen."
During her Today segment, the singer-songwriter said: "I just saw I can be stronger, you know?" Kotb responded: "Weights give you more energy later. I think when you run you get more adrenaline, but when you lift weights, you’re like, wow." Trainor added: "And you’re dead the whole day." Hager then mentioned that including your children in exercise routines is an option. "Now, I lift them up like a dumbbell," Trainor quipped. "I’m like, ‘Okay, use your legs!’"
