Melania Trump isn’t taking kindly to certain members of the press who scrutinize her fundraising efforts, and has branded them “dream killers” for their constant negativity! As per The New York Times, the latest “misleading” (to quote the former FLOTUS herself) press is seemingly in relation to a recent inquiry that was made about an upcoming fundraiser in Florida. Interestingly, the charity that the fundraiser is in aid of is not registered with the Florida Consumer Services Division (as required by law!) which has therefore caused a lot of people to wonder whether the charity even exists! Yikes!
“Despite my actions, the press continues to publish inaccurate, misleading, and outright incorrect articles about my work,” the former First Lady said in an official statement which was released on Friday, February 18th. “The media has created a narrative whereby I am trying to act in an illegal or unethical manner. That portrayal is simply untrue and adversely affects the children I hope to support.”
Mrs Trump's statement continued: "Those who attack my initiatives and create the appearance of impropriety are quite literally dream killers. They have canceled the hopes and dreams of children by trying to cancel me."
The fundraising event in question is being branded as an "exclusive high tea" in Naples, Florida on April 9th, which the mom-of-one is said to be appearing at. According to reports, Trump's office has claimed that the tea aims to raise money for the charity Fostering the Future, an initiative of Be Best, the anti-bullying mission launched by the former First Lady during her husband Donald Trump's time in office.
The money raised will reportedly be used to fund computer science scholarships to young people who have been in foster care. Tickets for a VIP table sponsor cost $50,000, while patron tickets will cost $3,000. However, many people are concerned about whether the money raised will actually be going where Trump says it is, as back in 2019, her husband was ordered to pay $2 million for illegally misusing money that was donated to charity for his own political gain.
As part of Melania's defense, the statement also confirmed that she does not operate a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and Fostering the Future is simply the name of her platform, adding that the Bradley Impact Fund will be in charge of making sure the money raised goes to the rightful charitable causes.
