Melania Trump moved to New York City just over 28 years ago last month, and the former first lady took the opportunity to post her appreciation for the city on her Instagram account. Melania Trump Posts A Love Letter To New York
On August 27th, Melania commemorated her immigration to America, specifically to New York City, with a birds-eye-view photo of the city and a heartfelt caption. "New York City captivated my heart the moment I arrived, 28 years ago today," she wrote. "This electrifying town isn't just my home; it's a colorful canvas where dreams come alive. New York's iconic skyline and vibrant culture inspire me every day."
Melania has made New York her home over the past few decades, and reportedly plans to split her time between the bustling city and the White House, if her husband wins the presidential election this November. While many say it's because she has no desire to be the first lady again nor does she want to spend time with her husband, sources close to her report that the decision follows her son, Baron's, decision to attend NYU in the fall.
Donald Trump Can't Do Business In New York
Despite Baron and Melania settling into New York City, Donald Trump may have a harder time calling the Big Apple home, given he was just made a felon by the state of New York. Over the summer, the 78-year-old as convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records after paying adult entertainer Stormy Daniels $130,000 in hush money before the 2016 election.
And if that wasn't enough to put a bad taste in his mouth, he's also banned from doing business in New York. In February, a judge ruled that Donald Trump had fraudulently misrepresented his net worth in order to secure more favorable loans. As punishment, not only was Trump ordered to pay $453M, he was also banned from serving as an officer or director of any corporation or other legal entity in the state for three years. It's not hard to see why Trump may not love New York City, but in this context, it is pretty funny how much Melania loves it!
