Restaurants are known for their extensive and delicious variety of food and drinks. With so many tasty items to choose from, it's no wonder why so many people have a hard time picking their meal when it's time to order. But, some chefs say that not everyone knows to avoid THIS menu item when dining out, as it's not worth the money OR the calories...

"I will order almost anything when I go out—but never chicken because it tends to be overcooked at most restaurants," executive chef Ryan Ososky tells Reader's Digest. Ososky isn't the only chef who advises patrons to pass on the chicken. According to the Food Network website, chefs avoid ordering chicken at restaurants due the dishes lacking originality and being overpriced.
They do make a good point... Sadly, chicken isn't the only thing that you shouldn't be ordering at restaurants. Another chef said that customers should steer clear of anything on the Special's Menu because they're not actually as special as they're advertized.
"When I go out to eat at other restaurants, I never order the specials," says executive chef and owner Alberto Morreale of Farmer's Bottega, in San Diego. "Some restaurants put together their specials for the day based on what's about to expire or what they're trying to get rid of faster."
If the items on the Special's Menu still look appetizing, Morreale suggests asking your waiter to recommend something made with local ingredients, or what arrived fresh that day.
