Director Murphy recently took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes  photo of the star-studded cast. Look at Streep’s hair– she looks seriously amazing as a redhead!

“Meet the incredible icon-packed cast of Netflix's THE PROM. A group of true troopers who buckled up and finished shooting during COVID so we could give everybody an inspirational aspirational story that we all need right now. Christmas is right around the corner..,” Murphy captioned his Instagram post. We sure hope that means a Christmastime release!

Streep is pictured in a group cast photo alongside other A-list celebs like Nicole Kidman, James Corden, and Kerry Washington. Streep’s new bold red hair is for none other than her leading role as Dee Dee Allen in The Prom

According to PEOPLE, the storyline of The Prom follows two characters named Emma and Alyssa who are high school students in love and banned from attending their long-awaited prom together. Streep’s character Dee Dee Allen, a fading Broadway star, alongside other performers tries to resolve the students’ problem.

Hopefully we get to see the end result sooner rather than later. The cast recently returned to set on July 23 after a shooting hiatus due to COVID-19. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Netflix film had just two days left of shooting before the shutdown began. We sure can’t wait to see the finished product!
