There are many things that we all do, even knowing that they’re unhealthy for us. Staying up late at night, spending too much time looking at screens, eating too many sugary foods.
It is okay to indulge certain bad habits at times, but there are some habits we should cut out from our routines entirely. We just discovered that there’s one mistake many of us make that can actually cause full body weight gain over time.
Midnight snacks are really bad for you - no matter what you eat. Even if you feel your belly grumbling and you didn't eat enough during the day, it would be much better for your health to simply go to bed hungry and eat a nutritious breakfast when you wake up in the morning.
And we're not just talking about late-late night snacking. Any type of dessert or post-dinner snack can be detrimental to your health if you find that you are frequently eating too close to bedtime.
This is because our bodies don't have enough time to properly digest food before sleeping if we eat too late at night.
Many researchers have found that eating late at night can cause the metabolism to slow down. This is because many of our body functions start to wind down before we go to bed.
So not only do we improperly digest the foods we've just eaten before bed, but eating late at night can make us run the risk of slowing our metabolism throughout the next day.
And even if you think you can have one midnight snack on occasion and it won't harm your diet, this may be wrong. According to Healthline, forming a bad habit of eating before bed can cause a cycle in which you feel more hungry in the evenings going forward.
