Miley Cyrus stunned fans and onlookers at the 67th annual Grammy Awards this week, making a striking entrance in a form–fitting black leather gown by Saint Laurent that showcased her toned physique. This left many curious about the balanced diet and rigorous fitness routine that the “Flowers” hitmaker, 32, follows.
To shed light on how Cyrus maintains her fitness and readiness for performances, we compiled insights and advice from the “Jaded” singer herself and her personal trainer. Back in 2020, the Endless Summer Vacation artist explained to Joe Rogan on his podcast how important exercising is for her mental health and well-being. “If I don’t work out, I’m not a great person,” she said during the episode.

Cyrus also mentioned that she realized the importance of incorporating physical activity into her daily life as an essential aspect of her career. "We don't do calls or work meetings before I work out. We know this. We've learned from the past that that's very important," she dished. The Hannah Montana alum also strongly advocates for leading an "extremely clean" lifestyle, as she shared with W Magazine in 2024.
Regarding her usual exercise regimen, Cyrus amazed fans last year by disclosing in the W Magazine interview that she exercises while wearing heels. She told the outlet: "My mantra is, like any athlete, ‘Practice how you perform.’ So that’s why I practice in my heels."

The former Disney Channel star continued: "The gym looks really tough, but then I’ve got my ivory Gucci slingbacks because they remind me of Marilyn Monroe. I train in heels, mostly. I’m interested in feminizing the workout space, because so much of the workout equipment is ugly." To prepare for her dynamic live performances, the "Malibu" songstress often sings her songs while walking or running on the treadmill, as shown in her viral 2021 Instagram video doing precisely that.
Cyrus (who has also shared photos of herself hiking on social media) is passionate about yoga, specifically Ashtanga. In 2016, she memorably stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and showed the host some of her favorite moves. "It does take a lot of training," she shared.

Cyrus further detailed how much determination the exercise requires: "Sometimes it can be really uninspiring because the teacher will say, ‘Oh, don’t worry that’s just going to take you 10 years (to get), and you’re like ‘Wait, what?’" The Last Song actress is also a fan of core-strengthening Pilates, as Mari Winsor, her former instructor, told Self.
Winsor noted that her A-list client achieved remarkable results because of her "commitment, hard work and (everyday) workouts." The trainer added that Cyrus " is a fan of all Pilates exercises, in particular those that sculpt the abs." As seen in her 2023 "Flowers" music video, the very athletic and limber Cyrus did some Pilates stretches and poses while also swimming, using battle ropes and resistance bands.

As for her diet, the Grammy winner revealed during her aforementioned Joe Rogan Experience podcast appearance that she followed the "strictest" vegan diet between 2013 and 2019 before switching to another plan. "I was vegan for a very long time and I’ve had to introduce fish and omegas into my life because my brain wasn’t functioning properly," she said.
Despite having relied on supplements and protein shakes during her vegan phase, Cyrus observed a significant improvement in her mental clarity after she started eating fish again. "Now I’m so much sharper than I was and I think that I was, at one point, pretty malnutritioned," she went on. "I remember going to Glastonbury (music festival) and that was a show that I loved—I loved my performance—but I was running on empty." (The more you know!)
