Miley Cyrus isn’t shy when it comes to talking about her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, who she was married to from December 2018 to January 2020. And she has once again opened up about the end of their marriage, telling listeners on her Used To Be Young TikTok series that she actually decided to file for divorce from the Hunger Games actor on the same day she performed at the Glastonbury festival in 2019. Why can’t all the A-listers be this forthcoming?!
The 30-year-old “Angels Like You” singer has shared a lot of things with her fans on her Used To Be Young series, although most of it has been career-focused. However, her episode 37 confession was perhaps her most personal one yet, as she spoke very openly about her marriage to Hemsworth, who she dated on and off for ten years after meeting him while filming The Last Song in 2009.
Miley Cyrus Talks About The Day She Decided To Divorce Liam Hemsworth
Miley has referenced her marriage many times over the years – she famously called her marriage to Liam a "disaster" while performing at Lollapalooza Brazil back in March 2022. On her Used To Be Young series, Miley told her fans that she would be talking about something "serious" in her video, and then recounted her Glastonbury 2019 performance…
"Glastonbury was in June [2019], which was when the decision happened that me and Liam's commitment to being married just really came from, of course, a place of love first, because we'd been together for 10 years, but also from a place of trauma and just trying to rebuild as quickly as we could," the "Flowers" singer confessed, in reference to them tying the knot just one month after losing everything when their Malibu home burned down in the Woolsey fire in November 2018.

"The day of the show was the day I had decided it was no longer going to work in my life to be in that relationship," the singer continued, before saying that she still decided to put everything behind her and put on a great show for the crowd. "So that was another moment where the work, the performance, the character came first. And I guess that's why it's now so important to me for that to not be the case, that the human comes first."
Miley Cyrus Opens Up About Divorce On Howard Stern
This isn't the first time the "Muddy Feet" singer has opened up about her divorce. She famously went into a lot of detail on the December 2nd episode of The Howard Stern Show in 2020, and ultimately said that she will "always love him."
Talking about losing "everything" when their Malibu home burned down in 2018, Cyrus said: "I lost everything. And so in trying to put that back together, instead of going, 'Oh, nature kind of did something I couldn't do for myself; it forced me to let go,' I ran toward the fire. Which is not abnormal, a lot of animals do this and end up dying, like deers run into the forest."
She added: "You're attracted to that heat and me being an intense person and not wanting to sit with it, and not wanting to go, you know, 'What could be purposeful about this?' I just clung to what I had left of that house, which was me and him. And I really do and did love him very, very, very much and still do, always will." Also in the same interview Cyrus acknowledged "there was too much conflict" in their marriage, telling Stern: "When I come home, I want to be anchored by someone. I don't get off on drama or fighting."
