'Flowers' Lawsuit
Tempo is claiming that Miley's "Flowers" is an answer song to Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man." Tempo recently purchased a fractional share of Mars' song from one of the four co-authors, Phil Lawrence, and are now attempting to sue Miley.
However, Miley's lawyers tried to have the lawsuit dismissed, claiming that Tempo doesn't have the grounds to sue, and theorizing that Tempo doesn't have the right to enforce copyright infractions without the consent of the other three co-authors. But a judge recently ruled that Tempo does in fact have the right to sue, and it seems they will be moving forward with the lawsuit.
Miley Cyrus Doesn't Want To Admit 'Flowers' Is About 'Liam Hemsworth'
"Flowers" is definitely a break up anthem, but was it written about Liam Hemsworth? Many fans think so. While most of the lyrics can really be applied to anyone leaving a relationship they weren't happy in, but fans have noted certain lyrics have some consistencies with their story. For example, with the lyric "built a home and watched it burn," Miley could've been referring to the 2018 wildfire that destroyed their home.
Despite these, and a few other rumors (like the idea that Miley is wearing one of Liam's suits in the "Flowers" music video, or that the music video was filmed in the house that Liam allegedly cheated on her in), Miley has never admitted that the song is about her ex-husband.
