Miley Cyrus just aced a Video Music Awards performance of her new hit “Midnight Sky,” and now the songstress is opening up about another hit break-up song very close to her heart.
The 27-year-old revealed in an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe that she actually wrote her divorce ballad “Slide Away” long before her actual split from ex Liam Hemsworth. We are so surprised!

In the interview, Miley admitted that she “burnt my house down with my words” by penning the break-up song a year before her split from Liam was made public. Aka, she manifested the split by writing about it. Yikes!
The heartbreaking hit documents Miley and Liam "sliding" away from each other--but the couple were still together when she put the words on paper.

If you remember, Miley and Liam went their separate ways in August 2019 after a lengthy on-again-off-again relationship.
Shortly after the split was confirmed by reps, Miley dropped the powerful song. Who didn't shed a tear when Miley said it was, "Time to let it go."
But she wrote those words when they were still very much married! "I wrote 'Slide Away' before my breakup," she told Lowe. "I wrote 'Slide Away' in February of the year before." This is shocking!
She continued of her tendency to manifesting her relationships through song: "I just keep speaking these things into existence." (Cyrus, who called it quits with boyfriend Cody Simpson, writes that she is "born to run" in "Midnight Sky."

"So, you know what? That's why I've also, I've decided to use my language to love myself, and to really create what I want to be my reality. Because otherwise, I keep doing the opposite. I burnt my house down with my words."
She continued, "I think that's what I mean by definitely joking about me burning my house down with my words. But I do believe in where we put our attention determines our faith. And so again with this idea of having nothing to prove and wearing the insides out. I just feel this sense of freedom, and I think that's a word I've probably used pretty consistently."
Wow! It's refreshing to hear an artist being so honest about their relationships and music.
