Cyrus told the Wallstreet Journal, “My life has been pushed on pause, but really I have no idea what this pandemic is like,” she said. “I am comfortable in my space and able to put food on my table and [I am] financially stable, and that’s just not the story for a lot of people.”
In fact, Cyrus has even started an Instagram Live show, “Bright Minded: Live With Miley” since the pandemic hit. The show is a mix of celebrity interviews and issues advocacy related to the outbreak. The “Wrecking Ball” singer told the WSJ, “I’m sure a lot of the hesitation for other people saying yes to doing the show is because it almost doesn’t feel right for celebrities to share our experience. Because it just doesn’t compare.”
With a slew of celebrities making insensitive remarks about their comfortable quarantine situations, Cyrus is one of the few who has admitted her privilege. "I'm sure some people I was reaching out to felt the same way I do, which is that my experience is so rare, it almost doesn't feel right to talk about," Cyrius told WSJ Magazine. "This isn't Covid-19, what I'm experiencing."
Cyrus has had interviews and conversations with fellow stars like Reese Witherspoon, Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez. More recently, she has pivoted to hosting activists and medical specialists. Cyrus is proving to be a gracious and entertaining hostess. Who knows, perhaps post-pandemic, we’ll get to see Miley Cyrus host her own talk show.
