Miley Cyrus is single again. The singer/actress split from boyfriend Cody Simpson after nearly ten months, as was first reported by TMZ last week. Cyrus confirmed the split on her Instagram live shortly after the news broke.

Cyrus and Simpson first got together in October 2019 – two months after Cyrus parted ways with husband Liam Hemsworth.

Cyrus spoke on Instagram Live on August 14, speaking out towards TMZ for reporting news from a source she says is unreliable while also confirming the breakup.

"Today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up," she said. "It was confirmed by a ‘reliable source,’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the two individuals that are participating in it. But, for right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be."

The couple parted ways after deciding that they are unsure about where they want to be in their lives. It seems they are still on good terms and plan to see each other as friends.

Cyrus addd, "Don't make it some drama story if next week we hang out and we're getting pizza. We've been friends for 10 years, and we're going to continue to be friends. Just don’t make it something that it is not."

Cyrus and Simpson are already proving to be supportive friends. Cyrus released her latest single, "Midnight Sky" right after the breakup was announced, and Simpson took to Instagram to show his support. "So proud of you," he wrote on his story.

A source close to Cyrus confirmed to People that both parties are handling the breakup well. "She and Cody are still super supportive of each other. There is no drama," the source said, adding that Cyrus is focusing on her new music.
