The Dangers of Tech Neck
One of the best ways to ward off sagging skin around your neck actually has nothing to do with skincare products, but your day-to-day lifestyle. Specifically, avoiding the dangers of "tech neck" can help keep you looking youthful.
Michael Kassardjian, a California-based dermatologist, explains to Insider, "Areas of the lower face, jawline, and neck are experiencing higher rates of premature aging at a young age due to 'tech neck.'"
To keep "tech neck" at bay, Kassardijian recommends that you try to limit the amount of time you spend looking at screens and adjust how you hold your devices so that your head is not tilted down but remains upright. This can help prevent the sagging and wrinkles that might form along your neck when you constantly look down.
Although "tech neck" might be one of the most common culprit behind saggy skin along your neck and chin, it's not the only thing that's contributing.
When combatting sagging skin, you should also take a closer look at your diet. According to WebMd, experts say that diet can absolutely play a role in the youthfulness of your skin. Andrea Giancoli, MPH, RD, explains that too much sugar and processed carbs can "lead to damage in your skin's collagen, which keeps your skin springy and resists wrinkles."
Instead, Hollywood Dermatology recommends that you "eat a healthful diet full of antioxidants and healthy fats."
The website also recommends that you pick out a "quality firming cream that contains retinoids, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C." The skin around your neck is delicate, so buying a cream specifically made for that specific area is probably a good idea. At the very least, make sure to do a patch test before applying it to the full neck.
