We Never Expected To See Crop Top And Mini Skirt Sets Like This—But They’re About To Be Everywhere!

Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock will already be aware that mini skirts are back in a big way! (Just ask Olivia Culpo, Kourtney Kardashian, and Megan Fox if you don’t believe us!) We say big, but that word is actually an oxymoron, because small is the key word to focus on here. The smaller the skirt, the bigger the trend. Never has the phrase ‘less is more’ been more appropriate than in this instance! And we have the Miu Miu Spring 2022 season to thank for it!

We couldn’t believe our eyes when Miuccia Prada debuted the teeniest tiniest micro skirt on the Miu Miu Spring 2022 runway last year, providing a modern update to the signature 60s wardrobe staple. We adored seeing it on the runway, but wondered if anyone would be brave enough to wear it off the runway.

Of course, some of our favorite celebs were all too happy to accept the challenge, as everyone from Nicole Kidman to Bella Hadid to Hailey Bieber, to name just three in a long, long, list, have worn Miu Miu’s daring and provocative skirt that has come in a few different combinations. And fresh new variations have been born in the Fall 2022 collection too, proving that the trend is here to stay!

The skirts may be a little bit different, but they have one very important thing in common; and that’s their practically non-existent hemlines! Take a look at how a few of our favorite famous fashionistas are styling the Italian brand’s *hottest* piece…

Bella Hadid

Bella Hadid covering Vogue for its April 2022 issue was incredible for so many different reasons. Not only did the 25-year-old model open up in her most candid interview of all time, spilling some truly heart-breaking secrets, but she also modeled some of the season’s hottest pieces too. And it goes without saying, but one of them was the now infamous (it now has its own dedicated Instagram account, don’tcha know!) Miu Miu skirt, which was styled with a long-sleeved super-cropped shirt and sweater combo. (Who said that sweaters had to be practical? Seems like keeping out the chill is entirely optional!)

Elsa Hosk

The 33-year-old Swedish model has already proven that she loves mini skirts – and they clearly love her back! – but she also paid homage to the skirt that started the new-season obsession with the 60s-esque staple by rocking the Miu Miu skirt that broke the internet (alongside the matching and equally provocative crop top) for Vogue Scandinavia. She could wear anything and make it look fabulous, which is why she is so good at what she does!

Hailey Bieber

Khaki isn’t the only color the now viral Miu Miu skirt actually comes in, as it can also be found in a deep navy color. It’s by no means less racy though, as Hailey has proven that it is just as jaw-dropping and provocative as the khaki version. As is the matching barely-there cropped top it comes with. Both top (if you can call it that!) and skirt (again, we’re using the term very loosely) come with their own individual belts, adding even more wow factor to the design. We’re obsessed with how this was styled, and Mrs Bieber has made us fall in love with it all over again!

Zendaya

Of course the reigning CFDA Fashion Icon was going to be one of the first to rock the trend, and the Euphoria star’s styling still remains one of our favorites. Zendaya wore the darker version of the skirt for Interview Magazine, complete with the matching cropped top of course, showing off her to-die-for figure in the process. We don’t know what we’re more envious of; the 25-year-old Dune star’s abs, her style prowess, or those thigh high silver boots that *definitely* haven’t gone unnoticed!

Anna Dello Russo

Another famous face proving that the skirt can be worn by older fashionistas just as well as younger ones is the 59-year-old Vogue Japan creative consultant and editor-at-large. She put everyone to shame by flaunting her super-enviable body in the khaki version of the skirt, and teamed it with a beige cropped sweater to keep the color palette on neutral territory. We love how she styled it!

Paloma Elsesser

Paloma Elsesser showcased yet another version of the iconic skirt, letting the world see the lighter color on the cover of I-D. The 29-year-old plus-size model made a case for blue monochrome styling, as she wore her light blue version with a powder blue cropped sweater, complete with a lighter blue cropped shirt underneath. We’re obsessed! We think the brand should release one in every single color (maybe even add some patterned ones too for ultimate variation) and the celebs can battle it out between them to decide who gets first dibs!

Saweetie

Saweetie is no stranger to provocative looks, as her music videos and recent red carpet appearances have proven, so we weren’t shocked when we saw that she was also keen to try the iconic trend. The “Best Friend” rapper flaunted her curves in the brand’s navy blue skirt, and switched things up with the accessorizing, going for the cropped beige and white sweater and shirt version. We love how she accessorized with shorter grey socks (do we prefer these to the longer ones Nicole Kidman wore?) and black and white pointy heels.

Ginevra Mavilla

The Italian model and social media influencer has one of the most covetable wardrobes on the planet, so it doesn’t surprise us to see that she too has dipped her toe in the Miu Miu micro skirt sartorial water. But she didn’t just wear the iconic skirt; the 17-year-old went big and rocked the entire Miu Miu approved ensemble made famous by Nicole Kidman on the cover of Vanity Fair‘s Hollywood issue. It was all there – the cropped sweater, the socks, the shoes! And the brunette beauty looked amazing!

Naomi Campbell

And finally, to finish off strong, we have Naomi Campbell. It makes perfect sense for one of the world’s most iconic supermodels to rock one of the most iconic pieces of the decade. We know we’re only a few years in, but we’re calling it! The 51-year-old super wore hers for W magazine, and showed absolutely everyone how it’s done! She slayed, and the trench coat and hat are the perfect additions to an already immaculate look!
