Impeachment: American Crime Story just aired on FX this past Tuesday, and Monica Lewinsky has been forced to relive her experience as the 22-year-old intern who had an affair with President Bill Clinton from 1995-1997. At the time, Lewinsky was reviled for her part in the romance, causing lasting psychological damage to the now 48-year-old. However, the former White House employee is speaking out about that time in her life and where she currently stands with Clinton, revealing on the Today show how she feels about the scandal and the show.

On Tuesday, Lewinsky spoke to host Savannah Guthrie on the Today show, discussing the premiere of the television show, Impeachment: American Crime Story, and her fears surrounding reliving those moments again. As for where she stands with Clinton right now and if she feels she deserves an apology, the 48-year-old shared, "I think there was a long period before my life changed in the last six or seven years where I felt a lot in terms of there not being this resolution. I'm very grateful that I don't have that feeling anymore."

Lewinsky continued, "And I don't need it. He should wanna apologize, in the same way that I wanna apologize any chance I get to people that I've hurt and my actions have hurt." As for the show’s depiction of her trauma, Lewinsky said, "I'm nervous for people to see some of the worst moments of my life and a lot of behavior that I regret. If you remember your 20s not that long ago, it's pretty cringe-worthy."

Back in 2018, Clinton revealed that he did not feel he owed Lewinsky an apology for his part in the affair, saying, "I apologized to everybody in the world. No, I do, I, I, I do not. I've never talked to her. But I did say, publicly, on more than one occasion, that I was sorry. That's very different. The apology was public."

Lewinsky was heavily involved in the script for the latest installment of American Crime Story, and actress Beanie Feldstein who played Lewinsky shared, "When I received the scripts, I knew that every word that I was saying was approved and had been to Monica first." The show airs on FX every Tuesday at 10 pm.
