1. The Brothers Sun
The Brothers Sun has been canceled after just one season, Deadline reported on March 1. This Netflix original dramedy, which premiered in January and had just eight episodes, starred Michelle Yeoh and chronicled the life of a Taiwanese family living in Los Angeles. Justin Chien plays the eldest son, a gangster who returns home to protect his brother and mother after his father is shot.
Although the series was one of Netflix's highest rated shows on Rotten Tomatoes (91% from audiences!), it only peaked at second place in the Netflix Top 10. However, while it may have not been the most viewed show on the platform, fans are certainly sad to see it go.
"Netflix really pissed me off canceling The Brothers Sun," wrote on fan on X. "They barely promoted that show and it was in the top 10 for a whole month."
"Are you kidding me!? They canceled The Brothers Sun, it was so good, one of the best things I watched last year," agreed another poster.
2. Agent Elvis
Maybe you've heard the buzz around Sofia Coppola's recent Priscilla Presley biopic, or maybe you're a fan of Baz Luhrman's Elvis. But what you may not be aware of is the fact that there's a cartoon depicting a fictionalized version of Elvis, voiced as Matthew McConnaughey, as a secret agent—or, there was at least. Deadline announced that Agent Elvis was cancelled on November 15.
Fans of the cartoon, in which Priscilla Presley played herself, expressed their sadness on X (the website formerly known as Twitter). "I’m going on strike and cancelling my Netflix account until they bring back Agent Elvis," one post reads, with another lamenting: "I'm actually sad about Agent Elvis. It was bats---t, but I liked it."
Rest in peace!
3. Captain Fall
It's not a good month for cartoon fans! Captain Fall is another popular animated series that got the chop earlier in November. This one chronicled the life of a sea captain named Jonathan Fall who found himself as the captain of a smuggling ship for an international cartel. And by the looks of it, it garnered quite the fanbase after just one season.
Viewers took to X to rant about the bad news of the show's cancelation, which Deadline announced on November 15. "NOT CAPTAIN FALL THAT HAD SOO MUCH POTENTIAL," said one user. "Why would you cancel Captain Fall?" another asked, tagging Netflix.
Posts from the summer begged: "Please do not cancel Captain Fall." But the deed is, sadly, done.
4. Farzar
There's one more animated series we had to wave goodbye to this fall: Farzar. This sci-fi comedy was named after the planet it was set in, which was home to the alien-fighting Prince Fichael, son of the evil czar Renzo. Voice actors included Dana Snyder, Lance Reddick, and David Kaye. Unfortunately, although a second season was set, Netflix cancelled the series less than two years after it made its debut, on November 15.
Fans did not take this news well. "Sad to hear about Farzar. I hope the promised second season is still released at some point," one wrote, with another exclaiming simply: "THEY CANCELLED FARZAR."
5. Glamorous
Although Kim Cattrall didn't make her return as Samantha in And Just Like That, SATC fans were able to catch a glimpse of her as Glamorous Beauty founder Madolyn Addison in this series. In Glamorous, a queer man named Marco Mejia explores new horizons in the world of beauty after landing a roll at the titular company. Many compared it to Ugly Betty.
Fans were so sad to say goodbye to this beloved story on November 15. "I’m disappointed Netflix cancelled #Glamorous there was more story to tell. That was a fun world," someone wrote. Another post reads: "Once again, Netflix cancels a show that had the potential to be so much more. I’m so sorry Glamorous."
Gone too soon!
6. Shadow and Bone
Just when devoted fans thought they were getting a third season and a spin-off series, Netflix gave Shadow and Bone the axe, too. Based on Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling novels, this series followed a mapmaker with the ability to summon light named Alina (played by Jessie Mei Li) as she works to save her country, Rayka.
Unsurprisingly, the loyal fanbase is in shambles. "WHY DID NETFLIX CANCEL SHADOW & BONE ?!?! All the good shows are gone now !" one fan wrote on X. "NETFLIX CANCELED SHADOW AND BONE. I AM CANCELING MY LIFE. UNIVERSE IS TESTING ME SO HARD RN," another post reads.
Another fan hardly had words for their sorrow: "No one speak to me ever again."
Enough said.
