In recent weeks, Netflix has canceled three more popular series with star–studded casts: Kaos featuring Jeff Goldblum, Unstable starring Rob Lowe, and the much-anticipated sequel to That ’70s Show, aptly titled That ’90s Show.

Unsurprisingly, fans have flocked to social media platforms, especially X (formerly known as Twitter), to voice their frustration and disappointment.

Prior to that, the streamer also axed the Michelle Yeoh-led drama, The Brothers Sun (which one fan on X referred to as the “best thing I’ve watched in 2024”), and Buying Beverly Hills, a choice that another Netflix member wrote made them “so upset.”

On the flip side, Netflix has also greenlit several hit shows for new seasons, including Nobody Wants This, The Diplomat and Virgin River.

We’ll dive into the details of these cancellations and renewals and share fan reactions below:

Fans React To 3 Notable October 2024 Netflix TV Show Cancellations

1. That '90s Show

Kurtwood Smith, star of That '90s Show, disclosed earlier last month that the highly anticipated sequel to That '70s Show has been canceled. Nonetheless, he encouraged fans by saying they would look for other venues. Even so, numerous fans rushed to X to share their disappointment about the news.

"I loved this show," one user wrote as another replied: "STOP!!! THIS IS SO SAD!!!" Someone else noted: "I really hope it gets picked up by another streaming bc service. It was a good show."

2. Unstable

Netflix has officially stated that the workplace comedy Unstable, which stars Rob Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe as co-creators and actors, will not see a renewal. First airing last year, the series managed to deliver two seasons. Deadline reports that this decision comes after the show's sophomore season didn't enter Netflix’s Top 10. The news has led many fans to share their frustrations on X (formerly Twitter).

"Once again @netflix cancels a great show #Unstable," one tweeted as another added: "That's really disappointing to hear that Unstable got cancelled after just two seasons. I enjoyed the father-son dynamic and the laughs. I hope we see Rob Lowe and his son in another show soon."

3. Kaos

Kaos, the Greek mythology-inspired comedy series that launched in August, was recently canceled by Netflix, per Variety's report. Premiering on August 29th, the show featured Jeff Goldblum in the role of the omnipotent Zeus. The storyline, set in a modern era, followed Zeus who had confined Prometheus due to his disruption of his godly dominion over humans. Predictably, upon receiving news of the cancellation, many fans flooded X with their complaints.

"Netflix how do y’all expect us to stay on your platform if you keep cancelling shows?????? Kaos was so good and it deserves at least one more season to wrap things up," one wrote. Another noted: "Someone needs to pick up the second and third season of #KAOS It can’t end like that, I need to know what happens next."

Recent Netflix TV Show Renewals

In the past month, Netflix has announced the renewal of several popular series: the political thriller The Diplomat starring Keri Russell for a third season, the romantic comedy Nobody Wants This featuring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell for a second season, and the romance series Virgin River with Alexandra Breckenridge for a seventh season.

Social media has been buzzing with excitement, as fans eagerly anticipate the continuation of these beloved shows. At least that's a bit of good news for the TL!
