Five Guys has been named America’s number one burger chain in the past, but just like any fast food chain, it stumbles sometimes.
If you’re a loyal fan of the greasy burgers and peanuts, then you might not want to keep reading. We’ve scoured the underbelly of the web, aka Reddit “Ask Me Anything” threads to find out the brutal truth about Five Guys food and service. Want to know the one thing you shouldn’t order at the popular chain? Keep reading, brave souls (and strong stomachs):
The meat is questionable, according to a former employee. Yikes! He/she/they write that the meat, "Was unsafe to serve to guests," the user says. But wait--it gets worse: "Gray, slimy meat that we were still forced to serve. Also, meat that fell on the floor." Say it ain't so!
Additionally, there's a reason that their patties are so juicy--they don't press the fat out! The Reddist user revealed the questionable cooking method, "We're not supposed to press down on it, that removes the juices," they said." Sorry, heart!
Also, it turns out that extra scoop policy is a bit of a rip-off. One employee writes, "When you order a small fry (for example, but they do this for all sizes) you are paying for all of the fries that go into the bag. That 'extra' scoop is kind of an illusion, they told us during training that its to make customers think they're getting a big bargain."
So, what do you think? Will you still be eating Five Guys after reading this? Let us know in the comments below!
