Why You Should Never Order Chicken At A Restaurant, According To A Chef

Going out to eat is the best time to get adventurous with your food. It's a time to try something you'd never try before or order something that's hard to make yourself. That's why a lot of people opt for chicken dishes when they go to restaurants. But, some chefs say that's not the smartest move you can make...

Unless the restaurant you're going to is known for its chicken, it's probably best to avoid the poultry all together. Chefs say that chicken is a difficult dish to perfect and that most of their colleagues end up preparing it wrong.

"I will order almost anything when I go out—but never chicken because it tends to be overcooked at most restaurants," says Ryan Ososky, executive chef at The Church Key in Calif. Good to know!

Ososky isn't the only chef who advises patrons to skip the chicken entrées. Other chefs told the Food Network that they avoid ordering the poultry because "these dishes are often the most overpriced--and least interesting-- on the menu." Plus, they don't want to spend the money on something they can make at home.

These are definitely all interesting points being made. We agree with Ososky and the other chefs, it almost never seems worth it to order chicken from a restaurant that doesn't specialize in it. We'll keep this in mind the next time we're browsing the menu at our favorite restaurant!
