Why You Should Never Order Eggs At A Fast Food Restaurant

November 1, 2017 by SheFinds Health

If your mornings are busy, you probably need to find inventive ways to fit in breakfast. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Busy mornings usually call for fast food breakfasts, as they're super convenient and ready to go. But, if your go-to breakfast order includes eggs, you're definitely going to want to reconsider hitting up the drive-thru...

Forbes reporter David DiSalvo decided to see what was actually used to make the eggs in the breakfast sandwiches of popular fast food chains McDonald's, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Subway, Dunkin' Donuts, and Hardee's, and he found some pretty interesting ingredients listed in their nutrition facts.

DiSalvo said that Burger King, Hardee's and Dunkin' Donuts didn't have the "most unrecognizable ingredients," which the reporter was surprised to find out. In fact, their eggs were "decent with relatively short lists of ingredients" and "for the most part, they stick to nature's simple delight."

So, which chain has the grossest eggs on the list? Surprisingly enough, Subway was the worst offender. The company serves eggs that includes eggs and a "premium egg blend" containing at least ten preservatives and additives, including Propylene glycol. This is a solvent for food colors and flavoring that is also used in anti-freeze and deodorant sticks. That definitely contradicts the whole "Eat Fresh" motto...

McDonald's took the second slot on the list for "Worst Fast Food Eggs." Their eggs also contained some alarming ingredients and preservatives, including Potassium sorbate. This preservative is used in personal care products as a replacement for parabens. The eggs also have cottonseed oil in them, which are made up of 94% saturated fat when fully hydrogenated.

Yikes! These fast food chains give eggs a bad name, and make them incredibly bad for your health. Looks like we'll be skipping our usually breakfast sandwich tomorrow morning before work...
