McDonald's has become our go-to place for burgers, fries, and even coffee! Though it's no doubt that their McCafé menu is filled with some pretty delicious coffee beverages, employees from the popular chain say that these drinks should be avoided at all costs. Why? Because the machines are "routinely neglected" and are never cleaned properly!

"I work for McDonald’s and make sure everyone that matters to me never orders anything that comes out of the 'McCafé' machine as these are routinely neglected, in practically all the McDonald's," according to a Mickey D's employee. "Not only are staff not properly trained in its cleaning and maintenance, at almost every McDonald's I’ve had experience with, the managers in charge of training them don’t know either."

All of McDonald's coffee beverages are made using this machine, which the employee called a "horrifically dirty machine." They went on to explain that there's "5+ inches of uncleaned, liquid making up its inside parts" and that they've pulled "black soot" from the machine several times.
"A couple of times I've stuck my hand in the machine to pull out a literal fistful of black soot to show to the managers that it’s not in proper condition, and nothing has come of it. The insides are caked with it, the lines where the product comes out as well," they continued.
In order to properly clean the machine, the employee says that a specific brush is required. They also revealed that the machine needs to be taken apart to be cleaned, which can only be done by "someone specialized in servicing it."
"I work nights, so unless I really hate the person coming in, I try to play it off like these machines are in their 'automatic cleaning cycles' and can’t be used. But really I can’t morally justify serving people this (dangerously) sh*tty stuff," they said.
Yikes! The employee also mentioned that the chain's smoothie machines aren't cleaned properly either, revealing that the staff is instructed to clean them with glass cleaner.
So, maybe we'll find a new place to get our morning cup of coffee from now on?
