Is there anyone who doesn’t enjoy going to restaurants? Going out to eat is an excellent way to get out of the house, see friends and get out of cooking for an evening. The only downsides to going out for lunch or dinner are that it can be more pricey than cooking at home, and it can be less healthy. But ordering food from restaurants doesn’t need to be unhealthy – as long as you know what to order, and what not to order.

Many people don't realize it, but sometimes the appetizers you order at restaurants can be way more unhealthy than the main dish. We often overlook our appetizer choices, or opt for a more unhealthy choice since we believe the appetizer is typically smaller than the main dish. But this usually is not the case.

In most restaurants, appetizer dishes tend to be even bigger than the entrees because they expect people to share. And this is the reason that many appetizers can be extremely bad for you, and why you should never, ever order nachos from a restaurant.

Nachos are probably the worst thing you can order at a restaurant, because they are loaded with carbs and fat. They also offer a few nutrients as there are several fruits and veggies that go into the dish, but these nutrients do not outweigh the fats and carbs. If you eat a plate of nachos before you have a second course, you run the risk of overloading your carb intake for the day.

Even if you share an order of nachos with your whole table, this dish is a poor choice. Next time, opt for a soup or salad as a healthier starter.
