February is award season in Hollywood. And, if there’s anyone who knows how to rock a red carpet (and a magazine cover!) in edgy style, it’s Nicole Kidman. The 55-year-old actress attended the 2023 Art Directors Guild Awards on Saturday, February 18, wearing a slinky black dress designed by celebrity favorite Schiaparelli for the star-studded event.

The Art Directors Guild Awards took place in Los Angeles and was hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown. The event honors the best production designers in film, television, and media of 2022. Fellow celebrity attendees included Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Kathryn Newton, Annette Bening, Guillermo del Toro, and more.

For the award show, Nicole opted for a black Schiaparelli gown from Daniel Roseberry’s Fall Winter 2022 Couture collection. The curve-hugging dress was made of velvet material. The gown featured a one-shoulder strap and a dangerously high slit that showed off the stylish actress‘ upper thigh. She accessorized with a thick, black choker with a large, anatomically-correct gold heart. The pendant was bejeweled in rhinestones and has a tiny keyhole in the center.

Obviously, it’s that astounding heart choker that really pulls the whole look together. The Big Little Lies actress decided to opt for black heels that had just a hint of a gold accent to match her showstopping necklace. Her shoes were the $640 black Nicole pumps from Chloe Gosselin (which are actually named after her!).

It’s a rare thing for someone to come alive in pictures when they’re wearing all black, but Nicole really looks stunning in this ensemble. It has a darkly whimsical undertone (à la Practical Magic) that just screams Nicole. The actress styled her iconic strawberry blonde locks parted down the middle, straight down her back. And, for glam, she chose a bold red lip and a slight cat eye eyeliner. Her glam team for the evening was comprised of makeup artist Kate Synnott, stylist Julia von Boehm, and hair stylist Kylee Heath.

During the event, Nicole presented the Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery Award, which went to Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin for Elvis. And in recent job news, Nicole has been cast in a new “Hitchcockian” thriller titled Holland, Michigan directed by Mimi Cave, which will be available on Prime Video. The film “tells the story of a Midwestern housewife who uncovers a dark secret on the part of her husband, after coming to suspect that he’s having an affair.” And, aside from her on-screen work, Nicole is also working behind the camera producing with her production company Blossom Films.
