Nicole Kidman looks almost unrecognizable with her dramatic new hairstyle—and we think she’s absolutely rocking the killer cut!
The actress, 56, has sported some iconic styles over the years, including ginger curls, flowing red tresses, and her most recent long blonde locks. But now, for her upcoming television show Expats, she’s working a super short blunt bob haircut, and the new look is totally working for her. We checked out her new character’s ‘do, as well as took a look at her signature styles over the years.
Nicole Kidman Rocks Short Blonde Bob For Expats
The first stills of the new Amazon Prime show Expats were just released, and in them, star Nicole Kidman is seen with her most recent style of long flowing Barbie-esque blonde hair shorn short, styled with a blunt cut and tousled locks in a "I just woke up like this" moment. We get the best sense of the character's hairstyle in a still picturing Nicole in a car, comforting the character played by actor Brian Tee. She's framed against the backdrop of a rainy rear window, and looks totally stunning with her new 'do as she gazes off into the distance.
In Expats, based on the bestselling novel The Expatriates by Janice Y.K. Lee, the Oscar-winning actress plays Margaret, one of 3 American women living in Hong Kong circa 2014 who come together following a sudden family tragedy. The show is set to premiere on Amazon Prime in 2024, and was also executive-produced by Kidman. It hasn't been confirmed whether this is Nicole's own hair or a wig shown in the series, but either way, she looks amazing in her newest transformation! As someone with a history of iconic hair looks, this is just the most recent in a series of major mane wins.
Nicole's Iconic Hair Styles Over The Years
The Big Little Lies stunner has had her fair share of signature hairstyles over the years that, while sometimes varying wildly, have always looked incredible on the elegant Australian star. Of course, when she first emerged onto the international scene in Days of Thunder back in 1990, she was rocking ginger-y corkscrew curls, which was her actual, natural hair and would be her signature look for much of the 1990s.
By the early 2000's with Moulin Rouge!, her hair had gotten a gorgeous complete makeover, with more relaxed, bouncy loose waves in an eye-catching darker red shade that beautifully contrasted her porcelain skin becoming her main look for the next few years. Then, Nicole started transitioning to a strawberry-blonde shade, which she's been sporting pretty much ever since, in variations of blonde and platinum. In the last few years her hairstyles have been, for the most part, long and flowing, sometimes completely straight or styled into waves or loose curls. Of course, she's deviated from her red carpet style for certain characters—like with her controversial super-short Mia Farrow-in-Rosemary's Baby-style hair for the 2004 film Birth, or going back to her roots with tight curls in HBO's The Undoing in 2019—but her Expats look shows a different side of the stylish star's hair capabilities, one we're excited to see in action when the show premieres next year!
