Nicole Kidman is known for her stunning strawberry blonde curls and effortless beauty, but on Thursday, the 54-year-old actress debuted a shocking new hairstyle much different from her classic waves. Taking to social media to share an ethereal image posing below a rainbow in a cozy knit sweater, Kidman showed off a fresh and youthful pixie cut for an upcoming project.
The effortless snap, in which Kidman smiled off into the distance with a hand raised in the air, evidently revealed a first look at one of the actress’ newest characters. Kidman captioned the image, “On set #Roar#FemaleFilmmakers,” evidently referencing the upcoming series, Roar, which she will be starring in alongside Cynthia Erivo, Alison Brie, and Merritt Wever.
The series, which will be released on Apple TV+ will circle around the female experience and is based on the 2018 novel by Cecelia Ahern which is a collection of short stories. The show has yet to set a release date but was announced on March 2, 2021, after being in the works since the book was released. It’s unclear what role Kidman will play in the show, but the actress is evidently switching up her look to fit the part.
Fans and friends of Kidman were quick to flock to the comments to offer high praise of her new look, with one person writing, “This gives me Julie Andrews vibes from Sound of Music.” Another fan chimed in, “The hair suits you well, Nic !! I’m not gonna lie.”
Kidman has had a busy year so far with the Hulu show, Nine Perfect Strangers premiering on August 18, and the HBO Max show The White Lotus hitting screens on July 11. While the actress was recently snubbed for her heart wrenching role in the HBO Max original series The Undoing, Kidman will have plenty of opportunities to garner recognition at the Emmys next year with her slew of upcoming work.
