Kidman’s co-star in The Undoing, Hugh Grant, was nominated for his role as her husband, Jonathan Fraser, gaining recognition from the Academy where he did not at the Golden Globes. However, Kidman has won an Emmy in the past, garnering praise for her performance of Celeste Wright in HBO’s Big Little Lies.
The 54-year-old actress has since become well regarded as a stellar dramatic television actress following her role in Big Little Lies, making it a surprise that she was not nominated for The Undoing.
The Undoing was Kidman’s only large television project from the past year, but the actress will soon be starring in the upcoming drama series Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu which will premiere on August 18. The series will also co-star big names such as Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall, Michael Shannon, and Bobby Cannavale.
While Kidman has not spoken out about her recent Emmy snub, she can still hang her hat on the Golden Globes nomination for her role of the distraught New York City wife of potential murderer, Jonathan Fraser. High tension and packed with action and suspense, regardless of its absence from the Emmy nominations, The Undoing should still be on your television watch list if you haven’t seen it yet.
