After receiving criticism for an Instagram post earlier this week, comedian Amy Schumer decided to retract her seemingly playful teasing of actress Nicole Kidman.

The controversial post, which featured a photo of Kidman, 56, in a pink outfit sitting in the stands at the US Open, was accompanied by a caption that implied that the Oscar winner looked robotic.

Many Instagram users and Kidman fans were quick to accuse Schumer, 42, of “cyberbullying” and “mean girl behavior” in the post’s comment section. In response to the backlash, Schumer deleted the photo from her page.

On September 11th, Schumer shared a photo of Kidman from the event, and captioned it: "This how human sit," for her 13.1 million followers.

One fan quickly commented: "Are you cyberbullying Oscar and Emmy winner Nicole Kidman right now?"

Another added: "Bringing others down is always a sign of our own internal insecurities anyway, so the critics here should hold a mirror." Someone else chimed in: "Empowered women empower women, do better."

After facing multiple comments like these, the I Feel Pretty alum made the decision to delete the post.

Following Coco Gauff's impressive performance against Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday, Kidman took to her Instagram Story to congratulate the talented 19-year-old athlete.

Along with a photo Kidman shared of Gauff, the Moulin Rouge! alum wrote: "Congratulations Coco! Thank you US Open! Great Women’s Final 2023."

Schumer also uploaded a photo of Gauff to her own IG page, writing: "Go @cocogauff !!!!"

Many IG users are continuing to use this September 10th post's comment section to call out Schumer's previous post. "Lift one woman up just to tear another down… bully masking as a comedian," one wrote as another added: "Are you sure you don’t want to make fun of anyone else watching the game like Nicole Kidman?"

Over the weekend, Schumer and Kidman both showed up in pink ensembles to watch the match.

The Trainwreck star was spotted sitting with her husband Chris Fischer in the stands, and she wore a collared rosy shirt with black shorts.

The stylish Big Little Lies actress opted for a pink, long-sleeved midi dress and added a white jacket and loafers of the same hue.
