A representative for Nordstrom just confirmed that the next Clear The Rack sale will take place on August 30th to September 2nd!

The Clear The Rack Sale is so exciting because it occurs about ten times a year. The sale features an extra 25% off clearance items, or “red tag” items, including online (prices as marked). Considering that the Nordstrom Rack clearance section is already 40-60% off retail price, this ends up being a massive savings (up to 75% off) for the customer. Squee!

The selection is good, too, the retailer usually has tens of thousands of items on clearance. You also get free shipping is free on orders over $100. And of course, their amazing return policy allows you to send back items 45 days after purchase. What’s not to love?

Clear The Rack lasts three full days. The sale ends at 11:59pm EST on the third day. The next sale will end on September 2, aka Labor Day.

Items typically sell out quickly on the first day and since they have so many items in the Clearance section (19,000 as of press time), knowing how to shop the sale is key. Here are our expert tips:

If you’re shopping in the store, look for the white paper tags with the “Nordstrom” logo on them, not “Nordstrom Rack.” This indicates whether the item was once sold at a Nordstrom store (which is what you want) or if it was created just for Nordstrom Rack stores. Obviously, you want the higher quality item that’s been marked down. For example, the athletic apparel line Zella is sold in Nordstrom stores, while the lower-priced Z by Zella is a Nordstrom Rack line.

You can sort by Price, Newest or Best Sellers when shopping Nordstrom Rack online, but sorting by “Best Value” is the best way to shop the Clear The Rack sale since the prices have been slashed and you’re looking for the deepest discounts. When you sort by Best Value, you will immediately find items that are marked up to 95% off. That is not a typo!

The biggest rookie mistake is missing out on an massively discounted item, just because it doesn’t fit. For one, you can have your size shipped to the store if they don’t have it. Also, you can get in-store alterations. Lastly, don’t be afraid to shop items like shoes a half size up or down to find incredible discounts.
