As CNN reports, nearly 30 women joined together to file a lawsuit against Olaplex on February 9th. They specifically targeted the brand’s No. 0 to No. 9 products and allege that these bottled hair treatments were the cause of hair loss, breakage, brittle hair, bald spots and scalp irritation.
Olaplex manufactures shampoos, conditioners, bonding oils, smoothers, etc. that range between $30 to $90 in price, and are sold online and found in stores from retailers like Ulta and Sephora.

The customers who are suing Olaplex claim that the brand uses ingredients that can cause allergic reactions and that are currently banned in Europe.
Some of the plaintiffs (who are seeking more than $75,000 in damages) alleged that after using Olaplex hair products, their hair was split and broken, ultimately “causing it to look unkept and as if it were cut with a weedwhacker.” Someone else said that her previously-defined waves and curls are now frizzy and “straight-ish.”
