Olivia Culpo is goals. Don’t believe me? The 28-year-old is a successful influence, a former Miss Universe, and, most recently, the cover star of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
So if Culpo is offering any advice, we’re listening–especially when it comes to an everyday ritual like the best way to take coffee.
According to SHAPE, the model's favorite Starbucks order is a Grande Nonfat Double Cappuccino, which is a pretty typical order. But Culpo also let slip her own coffee hack to make this morning drink as beneficial as possible: cinnamon.
She explains, "It warms me up when I'm cold in the city and the added spice is good for you!"
Although we don't necessarily need anything to warm us up right now in the middle of summer, cinnamon's benefits stretch far beyond heating you up--it can even help speed up weight loss!
According to Livestrong, "A 2012 study published in the International Journal of Preventative Medicine investigated the effects of cinnamon in people with type 2 diabetes. One group took cinnamon supplements every day, while the other group took a placebo. After eight weeks, the cinnamon group lost more weight and body fat than the group taking the placebo, even though the cinnamon group did not make any changes to their usual eating habits."
Medical News Today explains, "Cinnamon has been shown to reduce some of the bad effects of eating high-fat foods. This can help in an overall weight loss plan. Its effect on blood glucose levels can also help your body ultimately lose weight."
Plus, the article continues, "The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of cinnamon can provide additional help to those trying to lose weight by promoting an overall healthy body that’ll process food better."
With that in mind, there can be a lot of potential health benefits to adding cinnamon to your daily cup of coffee. Pairing this spice with a healthy overall diet might help you see weight loss results, and can definitely benefit your body in other ways as well.
