Fans continue to praise Olivia Munn‘s decision to unveil her mastectomy scars for the first time in a topless SKIMS photoshoot. The new photos were uploaded to social media on October 23rd and the Newsroom actress, 44, modeled the brand’s shapewear and leggings. Diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023, Munn has undergone four surgeries over the past year to battle the illness.

In a post for her 3 million Instagram followers, the X-Men alum shared the new pics. She wrote in the caption: “In the middle of this latest @SKIMS campaign shoot, I decided I was done being insecure about my mastectomy scars.” Munn continued: “Every mark life has left behind on my body is proof of how hard I fought. I hope other women who have been self-conscious about their scars see these photos and feel all the love I’m sending.”

Fans Praise Olivia Munn For Her 'Brave' Unveiling Of Her Mastectomy Scars In New SKIMS Photoshoot

Munn went on: "It’s really meaningful to be part of an initiative that supports research and helps countless individuals impacted by breast cancer." The mom of two added: "From October 23, 2024 to October 31, 2024, SKIMS will donate to Susan G. Komen  10% of the retail sales price for each bra sold in SKIMS stores and on Skims.com, excluding bralettes (U.S. Only)."

Fans flocked to the comments section to commend the "brave" Predator star. "Strength and beauty in one pic," one wrote as another added: "Thank you for sharing your story and being brave." Someone else noted: "THE SCARS ARE STRENGTH MAMA LIV" as an additional fan replied: "This is absolutely beautiful Olivia! You have inspired me for ages."

Munn also made an appearance on The Today Show this week, engaging in a conversation with anchor Savannah Guthrie about her health journey and the reasons behind her choice to proudly display her surgery scars.

Guthrie, 52, inquired about the significance of the pictures, and Munn responded: "When Skims approached me to do this campaign, it was just to do their shapewear and their leggings, it wasn't about my scar at all." She added: "We were in the middle of the shoot and we were changing an outfit that could see more of my scars, and the make-up artist was touching up my scars and we got to the double mastectomy scars, and they were just really hard to cover up."

The Gateway actress continued: "Then I was looking in the mirror, and I just thought, I'm done being insecure about my scars, so I went to the team of Skims and I said, 'What do you guys think about showing my scars in this campaign?'"

Munn (who just welcomed her daughter Méi via surrogate) called the SKIMS team "amazing, thoughtful and wonderful" and shared that they "talked it out and then we decided to do it."

She also explained that the experience was "scary." However, she stressed that she feels "like this is something I've been hiding for a long time now, and it just feels like I can breathe a little bit more." She elaborated: "Also knowing that there are so many women that have these same scars as me and I know so many of them feel the same way I felt about them for so long."

Munn expressed her hope that women who have battled breast cancer will find inspiration in her new Skims campaign, noting that the brand "is so iconic and associated with beauty and sex appeal and cancer doesn't really have that same connotation."

Munn (who tied the knot with comedian John Mulaney in July) had informed her fans that in February 2023, she underwent genetic testing to screen for 90 different types of cancer. Although the results were negative, just two months later, she was diagnosed with Luminal B cancer in both breasts.

Following this diagnosis, she endured four surgeries, including a double mastectomy. Munn shares two children, newborn daughter Méi, and 2-year-old son Malcolm, with Mulaney, 42.

The Suck it, Wonder Woman: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek author also told Guthrie that she hopes her new SKIMS shots can uplift viewers who have experienced a similar journey. "I really hope other women that have gone through my same path feel a little better," she shared.
