Wendy’s has many beloved offerings, like the Frosty, the Baconator or the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger, the last of which fans were devastated to see removed from the national menu in September of 2021. According to several eagle-eyed Reddit users, the fast food chain’s plan t0 bring the popular item back may have just been leaked, as reported by Mashed.

Although, it seems, this will come at a cost. An alleged company email was leaked on Reddit that revealed that the Cheddar Bacon Sandwich may soon be replaced by a “familiar friend” (a.k.a. the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger). The fan-favorite bacon pub burger was often acclaimed by publications like Thrillist and dubbed one of the “best fast food cheeseburgers” in the country and potentially the “best burger on the Wendy’s menu.”
The super-hyped sandwich featured a quarter-pound patty, fried onions, Muenster cheese, Applewood bacon, honey, pickles, mustard, and beer cheese sauce. According to the unconfirmed Wendy’s company memo on Reddit, the pub burger would most likely re-join the menu along with the famous pub fries. This viral note from the chain also suggested that French toast sticks would also be added as a new morning meal option.

Back in September, Wendy’s discontinued the pretzel bacon pub cheeseburger and the pub fries but seemed to imply in a statement to customers that this wouldn’t be the end for the tasty foods. “We know how much cheeseburger fans love the Pretzel Bacon Pub Duo, so we’ll never say never when it comes to a return to the Made to Crave menu,” they wrote at the time. As several fans tweeted, we have our “fingers crossed” that the email circulating on Reddit is “actually the real deal!”
