Is the browser you use one of the last things you ever think about? If you’re like many people, you hop onto a browser, any browser, and simply use it to access the web pages you want to visit, without giving much thought to the browser itself. The problem with not considering your browser is that they aren’t all one and the same. Some — like the one browser that Apple experts agree you should stop using — can even pose privacy risks and threats to your device. The good news? You can change up the browser you rely on today and put yourself in a more secure spot.

Get rid of Chrome

There’s good news and bad news to consider when it comes to browsers, says Yousun Allen, CEO at Yosun UV Printer. “The bad news is that there are several threats to your privacy when it comes to browsers, and tweaking one option won’t solve the problem entirely,” Allen says. “The good news is that you can start small, and concentrating on browser modifications is an excellent place to start.”

And here’s where Allen and many other Apple experts say to start: “Use Firefox instead of any Chrome-based browser,” “Allen says. “When it comes to privacy, security, and ease, it’s the best browser.”

You may be wondering why experts try to steer users away from Chrome. According to Allen, there are two main reasons:

1. Privacy Concerns:

“Google's Chrome browser is a privacy nightmare in itself, because all of your activity within the chrome is linked to your Google account,” Allen says. “Google has the power to track you from multiple angles.”

2. Certain Features:

“Some features, such as autofill, can save your personal information and passwords,” Allen says. “This information may be accessible to anyone who has access to your iPhone. To protect your information, be sure to enable Two-Factor Authentication for Chrome. This will require you to enter a verification code each time you sign in to Chrome.”

Changing your browser to Firefox or another is always the best thing to do, but if you are going to keep using Chrome, make sure you take some of these steps to protect yourself.
