If you deal with fine, thinning, or flat hair, you may have tried everything to boost volume and bring some life to it. There are so many factors to consider, from the type of shampoo you use to the nutrients you’re consuming. However, the way you style your hair can also play a major role in the amount of volume it has, and there’s one useful method that experts say is sure to help add some bounce to the picture.

To discover the best styling step to add to your hair care routine for maximum volume, we spoke to professional hair stylist Morgan Thomas, owner of Jade Beauty Co. Thomas told us all about her go-to method for making your locks appear thicker than ever. All you need is the right product and a blow dryer!

Blow Dry With A Volumizing Spray

While certain shampoos, conditioners, and supplements can help to naturally thicken your hair, there's one more step you can take to bring things to the next level; it turns out that increasing volume in your hair can be as simple as applying a product to it before you blow dry! Thomas's go-to tip is using a volumizing spray like Bumble and Bumble's to kick things up a notch.

To start this process, Thomas says you should first spray your roots with the product. Then, it's time to add some heat and boost your volume by blow drying. "Most volumizing products are heat activated so you will need to style with a blow dryer," she says. "Blow dry the hair in the opposite way that you are going to wear it for more lift. Whether you manipulate the hair with a brush or even blow-dry upside down, re-directing the hair against gravity will give you maximum lift and volume," she explains.

To really add volume and make it last even longer, Thomas suggests using rollers in your hair after you're finished blow drying. "Letting the hair cool or set in the rollers will ensure volume that will last all day," she says.

If you want to avoid heat as much as possible, there are a few other options to consider. Thomas says powder products can be one great way to go, noting that they're "formulated to swell the hair shaft on dry hair, giving your lifeless locks some extra oof throughout your day." Sounds perfect!

While volumizing products can be a great way to keep your hair looking gorgeous and full, Thomas offers one final warning you may want to consider: "Since they are designed to swell the hair shaft, that can also lead to dryness," she points out. For this reason, you should always prioritize the hydration and health of your hair while using these methods. "Make sure you are using heat protection and a hair regimem that fits your hair time to maintain the health and integrity of your hair," Thomas concludes. Noted!
