Oprah has continued her pattern of only wearing purple ahead of the Christmas premiere of the movie she’s producing, The Color Purple, with a bedazzled purple and yellow ombré jacket overtop of a lavender-colored silk set. The 69-year-old continues to show off her 40+ pound weight loss in these form-fitting outfits, only now we know that the media mogul has weight loss drugs to thank for her newly slender frame.

Oprah has previously denied the use of weight loss drugs, calling them “the easy way out,” but has since admitted that she not only recommends that others use it, but even uses it herself. “I now use it as I feel I need it,” she explained to People. Keep reading for more information.

Oprah’s Slimming & Sparkling Coat

Oprah arrived to the Empire State Building in New York City with the cast of The Color Purple, which premieres this Christmas Day, to light up the NYC landmark in honor of the film. Oprah starred in the original 1985 film, and is now one of the producers of the 2023 remake, and just based on her purple outfit choices, is very, very proud of it.

This time, Oprah showed off her slender figure in a lavender silky set comprised of trousers and a blouse with a dramatic neckline that belted at her waist. The real star of the outfit, though, was the bedazzled coat she wore atop the set. The statement piece fell to just below her knees, where it ombré-d from yellow, to dark purple, to light purple at her shoulders. The eye-catching number made Oprah shine as bright as the Empire State Building itself.

Oprah Admits To Using Weight Loss Drugs

Back in September, Oprah sat down with a panel of experts to talk about weight loss, obesity, and body image. She said to the crowd that she's never used weight loss drugs: "I've got to do this on my own, because if I take the drug, that's the easy way out."

It appears, though, that she wasn't being entirely honest with her fans, because this week, she told People that she has in fact been using weight loss drugs. She explained that her weight fluctuations over the years "occupied five decades of space in my brain, yo-yoing and feeling like why can't I just conquer this thing, believing willpower was my failing."

"I had an awareness of [weight loss] medications," she continued. "But felt I had to prove I had the willpower to do it. I now no longer feel that way."

"I realized I'd been blaming myself all these years for being overweight, and I have a predisposition that no amount of willpower is going to control. Obesity is a disease. It's not about willpower—it's about the brain."

Once Oprah made this realization, she was ready to turn to weight loss drugs for a solution. "I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing. The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself."
