Even though Oprah just admitted to using weight loss drugs to aid in her journey to shed the pounds and keep them off, she also revealed that she doesn’t just rely on the medicine. She also takes a holistic approach, hiking every day, staying hydrated, and keeping up with some of the Weight Watcher’s principles that she’s sworn by in the past.
Many fans, though, are calling the media mogul out for saying she takes a “holistic approach” to weight loss, pointing out that weight loss drugs like Ozempic are the farthest thing from holistic. Keep reading for more information.
Oprah Shares Her Weight Loss Approach
It seems like all anybody is talking about in relation to Oprah lately is her jaw-dropping revelation of using weight loss drugs. Oprah has been looking slimmer for months now, but told People that she only started using the drugs around Thanksgiving. Some fans are thinking that this just doesn't make sense, but Oprah shared that her slimmer figure is not just a result of weight loss drugs.
"I started hiking and setting new distance goals each week," she explained. "I could eventually hike three to five miles every day and a 10-mile straight up hike on the weekends."
In addition to regular exercise, which she says has become an integral part of her routine, she says, "I eat my last meal at 4 o'clock, drink a gallon of water a day, and use Weight Watchers principles of counting points."
These holistic additions to her routine have made all the difference for her, but she's also not ashamed of her use of weight loss drugs. "The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like a relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for."
Fans Slam Oprah For 'Holistic' Weight Loss Approach... With Drugs
Women's Health Magazine posted a photo of Oprah looking slimmer than ever, with the caption talking all about her holistic approach to weight loss. Users stormed to the comment section to call Oprah out for chalking her weight loss up to her lifestyle changes, rather than the drugs specifically designed for weight loss that she was regularly taking.
"Holistic doesn't involve pharma drugs??!" one person wrote.
"Why is women's HEALTH even promoting this?" another asked. "Taking weight loss meds is not HEALTH."
"She announced online that she takes weight loss medication. How is that a holistic approach to health?" another pointed out.
"How is weight loss medication holistic?" one user asked. "It's the opposite of holistic."
"Taking a weight loss drug isn't holistic," said another person. "Period."
"Holistic approach..." a final fan said. "Using weight loss drugs? Please explain how on earth that is a holistic approach."
