How did Oprah lose the weight?
Oprah is a proud spokesperson for Weight Watchers, and has sung her praises for the company over the years. “Weight Watchers is easier than any other program I’ve ever been on,” she said in a statement. “It’s a lifestyle, a way of eating, and a way of living that’s so freeing. You never feel like you are on a diet, and it works.”
And before you start thinking about that “magic” weight loss drug, Oprah has already denied usage of Ozempic, saying in a statement, “Even when I first started hearing about the weight loss drugs,…I felt, ‘I’ve got to do this on my own.’ Because if I take the drug, that’s the easy way out.'”
So the secret really is Weight Watchers, according to the author. “I can honestly tell you,” she says. “I struggle no more. I’m eating everything I love—tacos, pasta. I’ve never felt deprived,” she assures her loyal fans.
The Life You Want Class: The State of Weight
On Sept. 20th, Oprah sat down with a team of obesity specialists, psychologists, and the Weight Watchers CEO, Sima Sistani, to talk about the medical disease that is obesity. The program's website shares its mission statement: "Our course kicks off with a conversation between Oprah and leading experts that busts these myths to lift the shroud of shame that has dogged so many who suffer from this disease," it reads.
"We also explore the science and psychology of weight and obesity, do a deep dive into the new drugs, and share powerful testimonials from people living with this chronic condition."
Also during this conversation, Oprah addressed her weight loss: "You all know I've been on this journey for most of my life. My highest weight was 237lbs," she said. "So I am ready for this conversation."
Fan reactions
Many fans of hers took to Reddit to discuss her drastic weight loss. While many fans were happy for the actress, others didn't quite believe her claim that Ozempic had nothing to do with her new slim figure. "What are the chances of Ozempic coming out, and her being the smallest and fittest she's ever been?" one skeptic asked.
Another wrote, "Oprah is taking Ozempic, no way that ALL OF A SUDDEN she's just figured out how to slim down, come onnnnnn!"
But other users had only good things to say: "OK SNATCHED!!!" one user wrote. "Can we talk about how good Oprah looks?"
"I am happy for Lady O," another user wrote. "I am happy she found something that works."
A final user simply wrote, "She couldn’t look more beautiful!" We agree!
