Oprah Winfrey has been looking slimmer than ever lately, as she attends press event after press event for her upcoming film The Color Purple in various purple-colored outfits. One way she’s promoted the film, which she is one of the producers of, is making purple-colored drinks! In a surprise online cocktail making class, Oprah and her personal chef taught views how to make the perfect purple drink.

The star has lost over 40 pounds in recent months, and many fans were wondering exactly how she did it, especially after she said taking weight loss drugs like Ozempic would be “the easy way out.” However, the media personality finally admitted that she is in fact on weight loss drugs, and has since called it a “gift” and a “blessing.” Keep reading for more information.

Oprah’s Purple Mocktail

Last week, Oprah uploaded a video to her Instagram account of her and her personal chef mixing up the drinks. She captioned the video, “@TheColorPurple has taken over my life so much that now we’re making Purple drinks at my house. recipe in the video by @LeaFranklin that you can make cocktails or mocktails—and just in time for the movie.”

“We have come up with our own color purple drink,” Oprah opens the video by saying. The recipe calls for an apple juice, ginger, and beet juice mixture. To make the drink, combine one ounce of the mixture, half an ounce of lime juice, 1/4 of an ounce of blue curaçao, half an ounce of simple syrup, and sparking water. Plus a blackberry to garnish!

“You can also add vodka or gin or tequila,” Oprah added. “Or nothing!” Oprah chose to keep it simple as a mocktail… perhaps that’s part of her weight loss lifestyle?

Oprah Admits To Taking Weight Loss Drugs

Back in September, Oprah sat down with a panel of experts to talk about weight loss, obesity, and body image. She said to the crowd that she's never used weight loss drugs: "I've got to do this on my own, because if I take the drug, that's the easy way out."

However, just last week, she told People that she has in fact been using weight loss drugs. She explained that her weight fluctuations over the years "occupied five decades of space in my brain, yo-yoing and feeling like why can't I just conquer this thing, believing willpower was my failing."

"I had an awareness of [weight loss] medications," she continued. "But felt I had to prove I had the willpower to do it. I now no longer feel that way."

"I realized I'd been blaming myself all these years for being overweight, and I have a predisposition that no amount of willpower is going to control. Obesity is a disease. It's not about willpower—it's about the brain."

So, with this realization, Oprah was ready to try out the popular weight loss drug trend. "I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing. The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself."
