Attention all Costco shoppers (and peanut butter lovers): this popular warehouse store recently issued a recall on several items that customers may have purchased in any of their nationwide locations, including one beloved pantry staple: peanut butter.
“The J.M. Smucker Company and the FDA have issued a recall on Jif Peanut Butter products due to potential Salmonella contamination,” Costco warned shoppers in a notice they sent out. Affected products include jars of Crunchy or Cream Jif peanut butter numbered #917538 or #917546.
If you happen to have one of these jars, you'll unfortunately have to hold out for your next PJ&J. Costco's notice urged members with affected products not to eat them, and rather to "throw unused product away and go to Costco for a full refund."
The store also announced another recall for Frigo Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese, Eat This, Not That reports. However, unlike the peanut butter, which was sold nationwide, only shoppers in San Diego, California will be affected by the cheese recall. Additionally, the cheese itself does not have anything wrong with it. Rather, one ingredient was left out on the label, which puts people with allergies at risk. This product has been pulled from stores, and consumers who have purchased affected items are encouraged to return them to the store for a refund—better safe than sorry!
Other items that the store has recently recalled include Atomi Smart WiFi Celing Fans sold between March 2 and May 16 2022 (due to the fact that some products may come with screws that are too short, making assembly difficult) and Universal Broadmoore Cayden Gentleman's 9-Drawer Chests purchased between December 2019 and April 2020, which may be unstable. People concerned about the fan are encouraged to reach out via email at [email protected], and anyone with an affected drawer chest can return the product for a refund or reach out to Samson International for a free installation.
