Achieving weight loss goals often requires maintaining a calorie deficit, which means consuming fewer calories than you burn. However, it’s equally important to ensure that your diet is rich in nutrients, particularly protein, which can help maintain muscle mass and keep you feeling full longer. High-protein breakfasts are a great way to start your day on the right foot, providing the energy and satiety needed to avoid unnecessary snacking. Unfortunately, many popular breakfast options out there offer virtually no nutritious value—but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great options.
Fitness coach Paige Johnston (a.k.a. @paigejohntson.fiton TikTok) recently shared one of her go-to high-protein breakfast recipes, perfect for those in a calorie deficit: PB&J Progurt. This delicious and nutritious meal is not only easy to prepare but also packs a powerful protein punch with only 400 calories. Find all the details below.

PB&J Progurt Recipe
Paige Johnston, a fitness coach, recently shared one of her favorite high-protein breakfast recipes on TikTok. “We are currently in a calorie deficit and this is one of my go-to high-protein breakfast foods,” she explains. Her PB&J Progurt recipe is both simple and satisfying, requiring just five ingredients. “This recipe is so freaking simple, you literally need 5 ingredients. It’s 400 calories and 35 grams of protein,” says Johnston.
To make PB&J Progurt, you will need:
- 150 grams of plant-based yogurt
- 25 grams of BEAM brand vegan protein in brown sugar oatmeal flavor
- 10 grams of collagen
- 55g cherry pie filling
Start by combining the plant-based yogurt with the protein powder and collagen. Stir until the mixture reaches a custard-like consistency. "Stir it all up until it’s all mixed in and it’s almost like a custard," Johnston advises.
Next, add 55 grams of cherry pie filling and 25 grams of peanut butter Chex for a flavorful and crunchy finish. "We’re going to add 55 grams of cherry pie filling, 25 grams of peanut butter Chex. That’s it. It’s so freaking easy. Do you see that? PB&J progurt baby," she enthuses.
With this easy and nutritious breakfast, you can enjoy a tasty start to your day while staying on track with your weight loss goals. High in protein and low in calories, PB&J Progurt is a perfect example of how you can combine flavor and health in a single meal.
