Peanut Butter

Peanut butter, though high in protein, can add other nutrients into your diet that are not beneficial for weight loss--especially if you are not paying attention to the portions.

Amanda Nighbert, RD, explained to PopSugar, “Keeping your portions in check is very important with peanut butter. It is so easy to over serve."

Peanut butter is high in calories and fat, which can mean trouble for those hoping to remain in a calorie deficit to lose weight.

Nighbert continues, "[T]wo tablespoons [of peanut butter] will run you about 175 to 200 calories and 12 to 18 grams of fat."

That does not mean you need to cut out peanut butter entirely. The key, as with everything, is to keep it in moderation.

Healthline explains, "Peanut butter is unlikely to lead to unwanted weight gain if eaten within your daily calorie needs. Yet, it’s also a nutritious option if you’re seeking healthy weight gain."
