People Are SO Mad At Walgreens Right Now–Here’s Why

Rutledge acknowledged that the crisis has "become so prevalent in Arkansas" that a majority of its counties have a higher opioid prescribing rates than the national average. That's not good!

The suit claims that Walgreens "substantially" contributed to the problem "by selling, distributing, and dispensing far greater quantities of prescription opioids than it knows could be necessary for legitimate medical uses, while failing to report, and to take steps to halt, suspicious orders when they were identified."

A rep for the chain shot down the claims.

Walgreen pharmacists "always evaluate the patient, the prescriber, the drug, the applicable law, and the surrounding circumstances prior to making an appropriate professional decision whether to fill a prescription for a controlled substance," a spokesperson said.
