The sell by date of the recalled bags is 10/29/22, and they share a UPC code of 627975011673. If your dog food matches this description, the U.S. Food And Drug Administration (FDA) urges you to get rid of the food, as it could cause serious health issues for your pet—and even you.

How did this contaminated dog food get sent out in the first place? Freshpet Inc. explained in the recall announcement that the team "had designated this single lot for destruction, but a small portion of the lot was inadvertently shipped to retailers in limited geographic markets in the last two weeks." Yikes! That's a major mishap.

The company went on to say that "If pet parents have products matching the following description and sell by date in their possession, they should stop feeding it to their dogs and dispose of it immediately."
