According to the FDA, the following Central Valley Ag Cooperative pet food bags have either tested positive for Salmonella or have the potential to do so:

lGS Hamster/Gerbil + Turmeric bulk super sacks with lot code: B0624179808 11399 OXBOW and best by date: 2/6/2026

What To Do If You've Purchased Central Valley AG Cooperation Hamster Or Gerbil Food

If you've purchased any of the lGS Hamster/Gerbil + Turmeric bulk super sacks that are included in this recall, stop feeding it to your pet immediately, and dispose of it properly.

If you've already opened the super sacks, make sure to seal the opened bag in a different bag that has no accessible openings, otherwise, wildlife may get to it.

Even if your pet is not exhibiting symptoms, it's important to contact your vet anyways, as animals can be carriers of Salmonella, and pass along the germ to humans.

Stay Up-To-Date On Recalls

It's always important to take recalls like this seriously. Salmonella infection is especially dangerous to individuals with compromised immune systems, elderly people, children, and pregnant people. Symptoms include fever, nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, and chills.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.

Staying in-the-know on these recalls is an important part of keeping you and your family safe. SheFinds is dedicated to reporting on the latest developments in order to keep readers aware. Stay safe!
