Earlier this year, Pete Davidson and his girlfriend and Bodies Bodies Bodies costar Chase Sui Wonders were involved in a car crash in Beverly Hills, where Pete allegedly lost control of their vehicle and ended up crashing into the side of a Rodeo Drive home. Davidson and Wonders were unharmed, with police stating that drugs and alcohol did not factor into the incident. The former Saturday Night Live star was charged with reckless driving, and now, we have the full picture of the legal ramifications of the case.

Pete, 29, was sentenced to the following to complete over the next 18 months: 50 hours of community service; 12 hours of traffic school; payment of restitution and compliance with all laws; and a lesson in the ramifications of reckless driving by being brought to the local morgue. If he complies with all of these conditions, he will avoid having any criminal offense in the case put on his record.

Pete Davidson Charged With Reckless Driving For March 2023 Car Crash Involving Girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders

The King of Staten Island actor was charged with reckless driving after losing control of his vehicle, crashing into a fire hydrant and colliding with the side of a residential home in Beverly Hills on March 4th of this year. Girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders was also in the car at the time. He was charged in June with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving, with the L.A. County District Attorney's Office stating, "We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home...Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences."

Since then, the same Beverly Hills home involved in the accident has been demolished for unknown reasons, though it appeared that the damage caused by the crash had been mostly external, and not devastating to the structure. The homeowner, however, did reveal to TMZ in March that his daughter, who was home alone at the time of the accident (and was unharmed), was “a bit” traumatized by the whole situation.

Reckless Driving Case Sentencing Follows Turbulent Few Months For Pete

After the accident, Davidson seems to have made the decision to enter into rehab for Borderline Personality Disorder and PTSD treatment due to the tumultuous events of the first half of 2023, which saw the comedian charged for reckless driving and also getting involved with a clash with animal rights organization PETA for buying a dog from a pet store, which resulted in the actor leaving a curse-filled voicemail for Daphna Nachminovich, Senior VP of Cruelty Investigations at the organization. In the message, which PETA made public, Pete told the official to "suck my d---" and "do your research before you f------ create news stories for people because you’re boring." A friend of the Bupkis star told Page Six, “Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening.” It was reported that Pete was hospitalized at the same Pennsylvania facility where friend John Mulaney attended rehab in 2021 for drug and alcohol problems.

In a statement to People, the New York City Fire Department responded to Davidson's sentencing, saying that they would happily welcome Pete should he choose to complete his hours of community service there. "As the son of a 9/11 hero, we would be happy to provide Mr. Davidson an opportunity to do his required community service," they said. The actor would be able to complete his community service at the very NYC Fire Department where his father worked as a firefighter, passing away in the FDNY's heroic response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Pete and his representation have yet to comment on the sentencing, and have not confirmed whether the Suicide Squad actor would be pursuing completing his community service at the New York City Fire Department.
