Prince Andrew has been at the center of public scrutiny ever since the Jeffrey Epstein scandal made international headlines, and things have only gone downhill from there. Stripped of his royal titles by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, and now reportedly facing eviction from his home at the Royal Lodge by his older brother, King Charles, things don’t look good for the 64-year-old. Keep reading for more information.
Prince Andrew Neglects His $37M Mansion
While Prince Andrew isn't allowed at public royal events, he is allowed to call the $37M Royal Lodge mansion home. Though perhaps not for much longer. Reports of the Prince neglecting his home come from Us Weekly. The publication claims that the Duke of York doesn't have the funds to maintain the 19-century property, and thus the privilege may be taken from him.
According to royal export Ian Pelham Turner who spoke to Fox News about the issue, the house "is in total disrepair." Apparently the Royal Lodge is facing dampness issues in addition to "wear and tear," and that "cracks are becoming worse on the bricks." And that's not all, either. From peeling paint to plaster falling off the walls and ceiling, you wouldn't think that the British Royal Family actively uses the home.
Prince Andrew Faces Eviction By King Charles
While King Charles sees its an issue, he's reportedly struggling to kick his younger brother out for good. Pelham Turner said on the matter, "I believe Charles feels that spending money on Andrew would not go down well. On the other hand, it was allegedly said by the queen on her deathbed to Charles to look after Andrew, who was always thought to be her favorite son."
"King Charles is adamant that such a large house, especially if it needs a significant amount of money spent on it," Pelham Turner continued, "he can only do that for William and his children."
However, the King has reportedly attempted to get his little brother to move out, suggesting he move to the smaller Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle used to reside before crossing the pond. Allegedly, Andrew is declining to move because he thinks it would be too much of a downgrade.
