Charles, Prince of Wales, 73, has yet to meet his fifth granddaughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, and is reportedly very distraught about it. Prince Harry, 37 and wife Meghan Markle, 40, welcomed their second child last June, and she has not yet been introduced to her grandfather or her namesake and great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, 96 (which she is reportedly upset about as well.)

According to royal expert Nick Bullen, there still may be hope for Charles to meet Lilibet, as The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (a 4-day bank holiday weekend honoring her monarchy) will take place this June. Bullen believes this might be a perfect opportunity to introduce the infant to her relatives and for the two families to put their differences aside.

As Bullen said to Us Weekly, “I think Prince Charles really wants to meet his granddaughter. Prince Charles is incredibly sad about everything that’s gone on. So the family will want to meet each other.” Bullen also mentioned that the Platinum Jubilee is scheduled for June 2nd, 2022 to celebrate both Queen Elizabeth’s birthday and her 70 years on the throne and would be a happy moment for all of the royals (and even the former royals.)

“The Jubilee is a perfect opportunity for that because if Harry and Megan do come back…because they have to be seen supporting Queen Elizabeth II. It’s a great moment for everyone to be together,” he explained. “And everyone’s going to have to play nicely and behave well because it’s The Queen’s moment.”

As the world remembers after that tell-all interview between the Sussexes and Oprah Winfrey, Harry hinted at a strained relationship with his father and vowed to never allow his children to feel the same emotional neglect he did as a child. But despite the current ongoing feud within the royal family, Prince Charles has still expressed that the birth of his granddaughter is “such happy news,” with insiders saying that he “desperately” hopes to meet her soon.

All hopes are now pinned on the Sussexes flying to the UK for the Platinum Jubilee, as both Prince Charles and Her Majesty sadly missed the opportunity to meet Lilibet a few weeks ago, when Harry and Meghan made a very secret visit to Windsor Castle to see The Queen before flying to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games, as they left both of the children back in California. Much to the disapproval of Lilibet's estranged grandfather Thomas Markle.

The 77-year-old former lighting director has spoken publicly about Harry and Meghan's failure to bring their children to the UK, telling GB News in an interview that was broadcast on Monday, April 26th that it was "another slap in the face to The Queen." He added: "It was very rude and the wrong thing to do, and it makes no sense at all. I don’t know if it’s Meghan or if it’s Harry but The Queen should have every right to see her great-grandchildren and I should have the right to see my grandchildren." At the time of writing, Harry and Meghan have still not publicly said whether they will be flying to the UK for The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, but perhaps that's the way they want it to stay. They made one secret visit to the UK, we're sure it can happen again…
